You and Me

I meant to write you a letter, but this will have to do.
You are ridiculous, irrational, impulsive and impossible. And by that I mean you are ridiculously sensitive. You are irrationally loving. You are impulsively brilliant and impossibly kind.
You are someone who came into my life in a blur of tattoos and sparkling eyes; eyes that saw me like your muse and drew me in pencil-stroked love notes.
I am someone who never expected you.
I was looking for people in crowded bars and on university sidewalks, thinking that this was where you meet your person because that's how it happens in the movies. I wasn't looking for anyone when you walked into my living room on that night in August and I wasn't ready for you to leave it last night in September.
So here we are: a girl and her soldier, 9 months separated by a war and 7500 miles -- but I just want to say this:
You and me are like a puzzle, we fit together. Each piece is unique and special in its own way but connect it with the perfect one, and you can see the whole picture.
Here's to you. Here's to me.
And here's to you and me.
You and me were not expected. But you and me, we just make sense.
